Dimetrodon

A dimetrodon based on a plastic "model" (toy) that I have. I really love dimetrodons.

Another Church Drawing

Another Sunday, another unsuspecting portrait model.

Church Drawing

Here's another drawing of a person at church. She sat very still for me which was great. I'm quite fond of how the hair turned out.

This is a tree of some sort outside the school where I teach.

Lobster

Alas, this magnificent creature was awaiting his certain doom when I saw him. I decided to make good use of my wait time before we were seated at the restaurant and drew one of the many lobsters crawling around the holding tank waiting for their turn in the pot. Compare this to my crawdad piece. This, like all the color pieces in my drawing book, is pen and watercolor pencil.

Architecture

This isn't my typical subject matter; I usually tend to avoid straight lines and such.

Moleskines galore

In addition to a sneaky profile, here is evidence of my love of crawdads and bugs.

More Moleskine

More drawings from the book. this time we have some profiles I did while at presbytery a few weeks back.

Moleskine 7

Here are some more pages from the drawing book. A reworking of that Triceratops (watercolor pencils, I'm finding, are excellent), and some still life and another profile done on the sly.

Moleskine 4

Here are another couple drawings from the Moleskine. The Triceratops is a reworking of the one from January 26.

Tuesday, January 26, 2010

So I started a new drawing book. Here are the first few entries and I'm pretty satisfied with them (I plan on doing some watercolor on the triceratops). It's a pocket-sized Moleskine book; and has proven very portable. We'll see.

Demo. This was an in-class demo on drawing from dark to light.

Ficus and Katydid. This is a woodcut I did six or so years ago. I have been working on my photoshop skills - and, well, here you go. The linework is woodcut and the rest is photoshop.

Faculty Meeting 2

So I decided to bring my tablet to the meeting. Why not? It's unobtrusive and still helps me listen and not mentally wander into space.
